Yay! It’s Yoga Retreat Time On Ibiza 7 augusti 2017

Hello lovelies,
hope you’ve all been enjoying beautiful summer holidays. I just came back from 2,5 weeks on my favourite island: Ibiza. It’s my haven, my paradise and where I recharge my energy, retrive my balance and harmony and reconnect with my zen.
Free spirit, goddess, femininity, sensual, connected body and mind, chilled and happy – that’s me and Ibiza.
As I mentioned in my previous post, for me Ibiza is a magical, energetic, serene and beautiful place where I feel at home. Where I blossom into my free spirit and goddess nature. Yay!

Ibiza has a very special energy, that either invites you or challenges you. For me I felt this energy, – a magnetic, powerful and spiritual energy – that resonated with me the moment I placed my feet on the island.
I feel at home when I am on Ibiza and every time I leave, it’s always with an intention to be back soon again.

For me Ibiza is beauty, health, nature, ocean, versatility, beauty, chill, yoga, fun and play – all in one wrapping. Ibiza has so many sides, and versatility. From the beaches, music, yoga, party, people to cuisine.
The island has been labelled with an unflattering image of just being a hard core party island but it has so much more dimensions than this. On Ibiza you can explore and find hidden gems every time, or just relocate to your favourite spots every time.

As a yoga practitioner and a keen indulger of healthy living, organic local foods, tasty cuisine, beautiful locations, the choice of serene or party beaches, hanging out with chilled n cool people, transformational massage treatments, energetic healing, vibrant music and feeling the flow – I encounter all this on Ibiza.
I love the chilled, laid back and sensual lifestyle the island offers.

And I have several wonderful friends who have relocated to Ibiza part-time to check out from the stress filled lifestyles of  London, New York, Paris ….

This time I, true to tradition, I attended a one week yoga retreat ’Rejuvenate – yoga & holistic fitness retreats’ at Ibiza Retreats, one of my favorite yoga retreats on the Island. Helt in the north part of the island and the lovely Can Amonita.
The week of  includes every day yoga, meditation, HIIT Training, hikes, spacious and lovely rooms for accomodation, afternoon chill by the pool, excursion with the boat to Formentera and a restaurant treat on the last day.

 

 

The food at the retreat = totally nutricious, organic, ayur vedic based, is ahhh sooo delicious, tasty, yummy and beautiful to the eye. And after a week your tummy and digestive system is like a child’s again – all clean/alkaline, in sync, light and re-energized and purring with content.

One of the best parts with going to the yoga retreats are the amazing people you meet from all over the world. Every time I have gone to Ibiza Retreats I met interesting, fun, genuine and lovely girls and women (it’s most female participants, eventhough men are of course welcome). This time we were 3 from the US, 2 from UK, 2 from Netherlands, 1 from Switzerland and me. Successful, interesting and curious career women, mothers, models, students and yogis who are all coming to the retreat for some time out, rebalancing, recharging energy, cultivating their yoga, upgrading their health, bonding or just sharing an experience.
After the retreat it is not unlikely that you have a new handful of friends in your life. This time around the group connected really well – we were a really great group of people. After the retreat 4 of us booked an airbnb in Ibiza town so that we could have some weekend fun and play.

After the retreat, I stayed on for 1,5 weeks with some friend’s in their beautiful villa in Cala Bassa. Awesome days hanging out with friends from different parts of the world and enjoying the island and Formentera.

Healthy Ibiza -Time to Retreat. To rest the Mind and Allow your Heart to Dream. 7 augusti 2017

I have previously written about some of the main passions in my life of healthy living and healthy lifestyle, where travel, yoga, spa, nutrition, dance, nature and a healthy mind are the building blocks of this lifestyle.

There is one alluring island where I can practice, refine, indulge and experience all the key, life thriving ingredients for a healthy, happy lifestyle; body, mind and soul: IBIZA. 

Yes, I know what you may be thinking at first glance of the word Ibiza. Isn’t this more a clubbing capital and watering hole for thirsty party animals, who party until the sun rises?

Well, every coin has two sides and so does this beautiful Spanish Island. It may be hard to believe, if you haven’t experienced this enchanting side of Ibiza, this island is also a getaway for healers, yogis, and wellness practioners,  (of every level). Even if you may not be a yoga devotée, Ibiza is attracting and blooming into a health and spiritual destination for people seeking an alternative to partying away their vacation (or combining both).
The island offers a fine balance between laid-back beaches, lively bars, restaurants with gastronomic prowess, (specially in Santa Eulalia, unofficially quoted as the culinary capital of Ibiza), delicious local foods, hippie markets, fashion boutiques and a variety of healthy cafés.

Every year I try to travel to Ibiza to experience a yoga retreat.  I thrive to continue to discouver and experience new retreats, yoga teachers, yoga trainings and hidden gems of hotels and agroturismos around the world.

Happy Midsummer! 23 juni 2017

Today it’s time for one the most traditional of traditions of Sweden: Midsummer Celebrations!

And the sun and sunshine has so far showered this day with it’s light, happiness and joy :). I have come to love and cherish traditions more and more. If we loose our traditions, (old traditions with an attached history and above all a moment that gathers the family), then we loose part of a heritage in a sense. I think of it as a pay it forward mentality. And I am more talking about traditions per say, more out of a family perspective, than religion.

Arrived this morning to our country house and celebrating Midsummer with family and loved ones.

Just finished our Midsummer’s lunch and now it’s time to head for the local ’Midsummers stång’ and dance around it and also pick flowers to make a traditional ’midsommarkrans’.

Check this out – the ultimate workout – Megaformer. 21 juni 2017

Hope you all are enjoying this day that is dedicated to the celebrating the International Yoga Day.

I started this morning with my yoga practice and meditation on Gratitude and I will round off this day with a calming and harmonizing yoga session before I go to bed tonight. If you want to check out some good yoga videos online, then one I can recommend is: Yoga with Adriene. She has a lovely variety of yoga guided videos for all aspects of our daily lives.

I also did some fitness training today after my last work meeting of the day. It’s my second time to try this. Have you heard of Megaformer workout? That’s the one I tried.

Megaformer is one of the latest trends, that was really hot a while back in LA and NY. It’s a machine based workout focusing on cardio, strength, balance, and flexibility at once. And the focus is a lot on the butt, which brings a smile to my face. You can never do too much ’ass’ enhancing workouts ;).

The machine reminds of the Pilates Refomer, in case you’ve tried this but still not the same. contains of a carriage that slides back and forth along two rails and is attached to a row of springs, that are varied depending on the amount of resistance that you want.

It was created by Sebastien Lagree, the French-born fitness visionary who created the machine and soon became a big buzz in LA and then travelled around the world. I took the classes at Be.Core in Stockholm.

A Megaformer – this is your workout partner

It’s an intense 50 minutes on the machine. Initially I thought it would be quite easy, with every moment focusing on more a slow movement than quick. But I realised that the emotions during a work out can range from confidence (“I’ve got this!”), to confusion (“Eh, wait a minute…that pose looks easy but hey this is actually hard”) to frustration (“Why are you failing me, abs?” Come on! It’s only like 20 seconds left)  to relief and slight astonishment when the workout is actually over.. But with a sense of wanting to do it again.

”Just think with the Megaformer you are one step of the way closer to firming that body!”

Of what I understand Lagree is busy working on a new prototype of the next generation of the Megaformer, which is to get a whole lot more high-tech. I look forward to this combination where technology enables an ultimate megaformer workout.

In the meantime I am sticking to this version, until the updated one comes to Sweden or London. The teacher said that one should notice a difference, and apparent stronger core strength, after 6 sessions. It’s my second today and before the holiday on 10th July, I’m going to have done the 6 sessions, to see if the promise stands. (and I am travelling most of the time until the 10th July, which is the main challenge to getting the 6 sessions in).

Time for bedtime and a winding down 10 minute yoga on my mat and with a candle beside it.

The theme for the 2017 celebration, organized by the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, is ’Yoga for Health.’ The theme highlights the fact that yoga can contribute in a holistic way to achieving an equilibrium between mind and soul. Health and wellbeing can make a direct and useful contribution to humankind’s quest to achieve sustainable development and move towards lifestyles that are in harmony with nature??

Inhale – Exhale – Feel Gratitude – Repeat. Small gestures – big impact 20 juni 2017

Are you passionate about yoga? Do you meditate? Start your morning with some breathing exercises or pranayama? Do you take 5 minutes to do de-stressing mindfulness practice (there are such a great variety of apps to choose from) when you feel some tension or stress creeping up on you at work?

Yoga for me is a lifestyle. That doesn’t mean that I do 2hrs of yoga and meditation every day. I wish. I have the intention but I don’t always have or make the time. However, I do prioritize to get some yoga, meditation or breathing exercises into my daily regime. Not because I have to but because I want to.

It makes a difference. And it’s the best gift I can give my body, mind and soul. Best remedy for stress, aniexty, worries etc. Quickest way to re-connect with myself and center myself. And for me this is important.

If you are open to include yoga in your life, you can always start by adding a few minutes to your daily routine, in the morning or evening, by just following a guided yoga session online. With that you can always manage to get some minutes into your day. And if you also include going to a yoga studio, to your training, fitness or Power walk or run – then even better!

There are lots of great yoga videos online, and you can also check out this website YOGOBE, (founded by a friend of mine) where you can find great videos from some of the best yoga teachers and practitioners around.

If there is one recommendation I would make. It would be:BREATH.

Your breath is your life elixir.

Honestly, just take a few seconds, to reconnect, recharge or take down your stress levels by just focusing 60 seconds on your breath. 60 seconds of connecting with YOUrself. Focus on your inhale and then focus on your exhale (try to make your exhale slightly longer than your inhale).
When you remind yourself about your breath is when you remind your body and mind that you are connected and in the present. And it’s a little gesture that rewards you so much. Cause without your breath, you cease to exist so take the time to acknowledge your breath. Inhale – Exhale – Feel gratitude – Repeat. Every day.

And never forget: You are UNIQUE. You are AWESOME. You are PLAYFUL. You are friggin FABULICIOUS – just the way YOU are!
The race isn’t with others or anybody else. Stop comparing yourself to others, or at least try to do this less by realizing if and when you do this, and let it go.

Remember one important fact that can never be changed, diminished or taken away from you:

There is only ONE YOU
– make sure to acknowledge this miracle every day.

If you can give a compliment to yourself, show appreciation for yourself, wrap your arms around yourself and say ’I am enough and I am worthy’ once in a while – then trust me, you will be able to receive the same appreciation, love and complimants from others too.

It all starts with YOU!

Best way to start the morning 20 juni 2017

This is how I start every morning. Hot water with fresh ginger and fresh lemon. Sometime I spice it up by adding honey (nice sweetner), sometime a splash of apple cider vinegar (great for digestion and metabolism) or fresh mint (simply yummy). The most effective use of the ginger is to boil fresh ginger root in water, then cooling it, add some lemon and then drink.

Benefits of warm water with fresh ginger?

Best way to clarify the body after a night of rejuvuination and detoxifying the system.
Good for digestive discomfort
Helps decrease inflammation
Powerful source of antioxidants
Balance blood sugar
Throughout history, ginger has been widely used to relieve nausea

Alluring Ibiza – a magical island to discouver 19 juni 2017

Have you ever been to Ibiza? If you haven’t I highly recommend it. And if you have, but maybe only discovered the infamous party side of Ibiza, then I invite you to discover this multifaceted gem of an island.

For me Ibiza is magical, mystical, breathtaking, alluring and a place I feel at home every time my feet land on it’s soil. There’s a tangible vibration and energy to Ibiza. For me Ibiza is about health, organic, nature, harmony, inner peace and a slow combined harmonic pace. All of which can be spiced up with sensual beaches, beautiful people, pulsating nightlife and a seductive variety of restaurants, bars and cafés.

I try to visit Ibiza at least once a year and it will nearly almost involve a week of yoga, finding my center and reconnecting with my spirituality, my core, my breath, my thoughts and coming home to me and my center.It might sound a bit over the top for some people, but this is what the island brings to me.
It’s a seductive island, that can also test you, challenge you as well as encourage you to re-discover yourself. If that’s the journey you are on.

A word that comes to mind when I think about Ibiza is: freedom. The sense of feeling alive, being playful and free to be who you are. Others words are hippy chic, goddess, femininity, sensuality, flow, loose hair, flowey dresses, dancing barefoot in the sunrise to the beating and melodic drums on Benirrás Beach... etc

Despite the island’s relatively small size, there is a lot to discover, it has a rich history and offers an abundance of plant life, vines and almond trees. And each area/town has it’s specific charm and setting. My favourite places/towns are Santa Eularia,Can Verru, Sant Josep, Roca Llisa and the old town of Ibiza. In addition to these is of course always an excursion to the beautiful island of Fermentera.

Ibiza has 4 cities San Antoni, Ibiza Town, Santa Eularia and Sant Josep and a lovely boat ride away lies the smaller island Formentera with the most turquoise waters of the Mediterranean. The architecture of Ibiza is showcases an organic, living relationship between it’s people and nature. And it offer a serene space to work, think and play.

A quaint little fact, that you may not know, the port in Ibiza Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

 

 

Another aspect that makes Ibiza so intriguing is it’s people. Everybody who comes to Ibiza and decides to stay has an interesting, compelling or unconventional story to tell. I’ve always been intrigued by storytelling, which is one of the reasons I enjoy my work that also includes interview (or hosting a conversation as I prefer to call it), interesting, dynamic and inspiring thought leaders, thinkers, philanthropists, culture leaders etc.. We can all get inspired of someone’s life story, and Ibiza holds several life stories.

A couple of my choices of hidden gems on Ibiza:

Es Torrent -Located at Platja d’es Torrent lies this adorable restaurant that you only find if you know about it. It’s hidden away but always attracts an eclecctic group of people. Food, beach and service puts a smile on your face and a lifts your spirits.
The restaurant is located in the cove of Es Torrent, on the south coast of Ibiza, between the beaches of Porroig and Sa Caixota. The nearest towns are Sant Josep and Es Cubells.

Cas Gasi – This is a gem of a family run, eco-friendly, agrotourism hotel located centrally on a off beaten road close to the village of Santa Gertrudis. I love this place. It truly is a home away from home with that understated luxury and attention to details, offering a feeling of there being nothing to miss.

It’s quaint, serene, lush and tranquil. A 12-room property surrounded by lush nature, that winds down a hillside smothered in almond, fig and carob trees. Attracting high-profile guests who love its secluded location and it’s adept at meeting each guests’ individual needs.

Every morning you can enjoy an outdoor yoga class with the lovely Bettina, followed by a breakfast that is a dream for a healthy lifestyle practitioner like myself with a colourful palette of biodynamic food, own organic fruits from the gardens, free-range eggs, fresh ginger teased water and a meny that will make your tummy happy. The same goes for the dinner, with meat and fish coming from local farmers and fishermen and newly picked vegetables directly from the gardens and delicious olive oil pressed from the olives growing on the grounds, are just some of the choices on the menu.
The attentive and charming staff, together with Cas Gasi’s passionate owner Margaret Von Korff, strongly contribute to the unique experience of Cas Gasi. Suitable for couples and families and singles looking for the chill and authentic harmonious beat of Ibiza that syncs with nature.

Once you’ve stayed at Cas Gasi, you are prone to long back to visit again.

A handfull of my favorite Beaches:
Cap D’es Falco – one of my favorite spots for chilling and absorbing some unspoilt Ibiza scenery and generously gets one of the best sunsets on the Island. Need to add that this offers a great chillin place for a glas of wine, after beach or lunch at the family Fabbri’s Italian sea fronted restaurant. It’s more a rocky beach. But the sunset is worth the visit.
Cala d’Hort – has the best view of Es Vedrà – the mystical rock that rises dramatically out of the sea at the island’s south-west tip, said to be  the third most magnetic place on earth. There are also boat trips to Es Vedra.
Formentera’s Beso Beach – beautiful island and beach and food that tease your tastebuds.
Blue Marlin – This is a classic when on Ibiza. Epic beach club.
